Today, meet Sarah Briggs, Abilene doula!

Introduce yourself!

I’ve always been passionate about little ones. Growing up, nieces, nephews, and cousins were always at my house. I’ve also been babysitting/nannying since I was about 12 years old! I got married in May 2017 and still love when nieces and nephews come and hang out with me.

What first got you interested in doula work?

I’ve always been interested in babies and pregnancy and have always wanted to play a part in it somehow. I looked into everything from OBGYN, Pediatrician, L&D nurse, Neonatal Nurse, Midwifery and Doulas. I’ve gone back and forth with Doula multiple times and after talking to someone who has used one, I decided that’s what I wanted to do!

Do you have any particular passions concerning birth, if so, why?

I don’t have a particular area of birth I’m more passionate about than another. I mainly have a passion for helping mommas and babies have the most amazing birth possible whatever the circumstances may be.

With so many doula trainings out there, why did you choose Birth Boot Camp DOULA training?

I talked to someone who had used a Birth Boot Camp Doula and they connected me with their Doula.

Tell us about your training experience.

I loved the entire training! I think my favorite part was probably practicing the comfort measures on each other.

How did your training prepare you for actual birth attendance?

I feel as though I learned so much in training and because of that, I’ll be able to help tremendously in their labor.

To close, how do you believe doulas can make a positive difference in the birth experience for women?

I believe Doulas can help people have the most amazing birth possible. They can use their knowledge to help mom be as comfortable as possible during labor and keep her as calm as possible too.
